The National Curriculum sets out what children should be taught.  Attainment targets set out the expected standards of pupils' performance and schools may choose how they organise their school curriculum to cover the programmes of study from Year 1 to Year 6.  Children in Nursery and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage.  In addition, pupils in KS1 follow the Letters and Sounds phonics scheme.

A guide for parents can be found here.

At Asterdale, we provide all pupils with a curriculum which is broad, balanced and stimulates learning. We aim to develop the skills and knowledge that help our children grow in confidence and maturity, enabling them to pursue academic, social and cultural activities.  We promote a range of enrichment activities and experiential learning.

The curriculum consists of programmes of study and comprises the following  subject areas - English (reading and writing), Maths, Science, History, Geography, Design and Technology, Art, Music, Physical Education (PE), Computing, Religious Education (RE), Modern Foreign Language (French) and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).

Please do have a look through each of the year group 'doors' on the home page for curriculum information.
