Year 1 have been lucky to be out in the forest for almost a full term. We’ve had a fabulous time, developing a whole range of skills and learning a lot.   

Below are some of the activities we have really enjoyed:

• Woodland games 

• Scavenger hunt  

• Stick collecting  

• Leaf kebabs with dry leaves to start our campfires  

• Leaf rubbings 

• Leaf painting  

• Bulb planting and weeding of school planters  

• Dough spiders and twig webs   

• Shelter building and camouflage  

• Snow balls down shoots and melting of snow into water to wash our hands  

• Christmas activities such as weaving wool around willow wreaths and mini pine cone Christmas trees.   

We have loved hot chocolate and toast each week whilst chatting around the campfire.  We have also made sure we wash our own pots, keep safe and look after the forest area.
