Year 5
Year 5
Year 5 have been lucky to be out in the forest for almost a full term. We’ve had a fabulous time, developing a whole range of skills and learning a lot. Below are some of the activities we have really enjoyed:
- Autumn pictures
- Sorting and sawing wood
- Leaf identification and collecting
- Painting on leaves
- Weeding and planting of shrubs / herbs
- Herb ID and discussion of uses of herbs in medicines and cooking.
- Shelter building and camouflage
- Created spiders’ webs with rope in big teams, highlighting the need for teamwork
- Loved watching our resident robin week after week
- Hedge planting / tree planting
- Paired work to correctly set up the fire area, lay fire and keep it lit for 30 seconds.
- Weeding of raised beds and bulb planting
- Christmas tree wrapping for whole school Santa gifts
We have loved hot chocolate and toast each week whilst chatting around the campfire. We’ve also made sure we wash our own pots, keep safe and look after the forest area.
